HUNDRED'S OF ITEMS OF DANGEROUS LITTER COLLECTED

<< BACK

As part of the Dyer Island Conservation Holiday Programme, two public beach clean ups were held.  The first was at Stanford Cove on the 23rd December 2009 – click here to read.

Twelve people joined the clean up operation at Danger Point on the 6th January 2010.  As the Africa Oystercatcher’s were nesting at two sites nearby, our area was limited to about 300m but we still collected 8 bags of rubbish.    It was very sad to see people ignoring the signs indicating that nesting was taking place but it was also good to discover that the Oystercatchers breeding within the protected reserve around I & J’s facilities, have bred successfully. It was a perfectly warm day for a clean up and both adults and children enjoyed the hour we spent doing our bit to help.

The Trust thanks all those who gave of their time to participate.
